To practice as a nurse in Ireland you must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)). Please visit the website of the Board at

Registration with the NMBI assures patients, employers and colleagues that a nurse has the qualifications needed to practise and has not had his or her name removed from the Register for misconduct and is working in a regulated profession.

As a registered and licensed Nurse Recruitment Agency, Nurse Jobs Europe(Ireland) can advise and assist you with the registration process. This is a free service to nurses, so that the application and registration goes smoothly, without undue delays or technical difficulties.

Registration for nurses trained outside of Ireland is completed by a staged process that involves completing a number of forms, providing evidence of qualifications and payment of a fee to the Board. The fee is paid directly to the Board and Nurse Jobs Europe(Ireland) receives no financial payment. All our services are completely free to you.

We have arrangements with a number of Health Service Providers to assist you with payment of this Registration fee.

The precise application process depends on when and where you trained and whether or not your qualifications automatically meet the terms of EU Directive 2005/36/EC. It may appear complicated at first, but we are familiar with the process and we can assist you until your registration is completed. The best first step is to contact us and we will guide you on exactly what you should do.

Many of our nurses meet the criteria for “automatic recognition route to registration” with the NMBI. We will explore this possibility with you, if you trained in an EU country, as a general nurse or as a midwife. Do not hesitate to contact us at and we will be happy to help.
